Wennie Ferrell Paulsen, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 19, 2018, at his home.
He was born October 3, 1923, in Woodville, Idaho, to Ephraim Martin Paulsen and Elizabeth Catherine Collings Paulsen. He grew up in Woodville, Lewisville, Goshen, and Roberts, graduating from Roberts High School. He served in the U.S. Navy just after World War II ended.
On September 6, 1950, he married Joan Woodland Paulsen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born six children: Ferrel, Jerry, Jeanine, Dennis, Marie, and Robert. Wennie and Joan made their home in Idaho Falls, where Wennie worked as a Mechanic for Western Foods, and as a machinist for various local companies.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Sunday School President and as a Temple Missionary. He loved tinkering in his shop and garage and was a jack of all trades. He was always ready to assist someone in need and was our local MacGyver. Wen and Joan renovated and maintained rental properties throughout their marriage.
Wennie is survived by wife, Joan Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Ferrel Kay (Kaylene) Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Jeanine (Lyman) Hepworth of Storm Lake, IA; son, Dennis Wynn Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Marie (Brian) Hansen of Caldwell, ID; son, Robert Dale Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID;daughter-in-law, Betty Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Rex (Geraldine) Paulsen of Sequim, WA; 35 grandchildren and 70+ great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Craig Paulsen; daughter-in-law, Catherine Paulsen; brothers, Lavere Paulsen, Glen Paulsen, and Ray Paulsen: sisters, Arlene Wadsworth, Sylvia Likes, Bernice Paulsen, and Jewell Wadsworth; grandson, Wayne Paulsen; and great granddaughters, Taylor Simpson and Samantha Udy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone, with Bishop Peter Hannon officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery.
