WENDELL McCRACKEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Wendell Edward McCracken, 82, of Idaho
Falls, died August 17, 2004, at Life Care Center.
He was born December 21, 1921, in Cuba, Kansas, to Henry
McCracken and Lida Mae Hockett McCracken. He graduated from High School
in Haddan, Kansas then joined the Army Air Corps.
He served in World War II working in Communications with
the Flying Tigers. He served in the China-Burma Theater and earned a Bronze
Star for his service. He has been active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was active in the Air Reserves and the Air National Guard in Gowen
Field in Boise.
He married Miriam Nan Passmore January 24, 1944, in Bellville,
Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 13, 1986.
They lived in the Caldwell area for around 40 years,
where he farmed. He also worked as a carpenter in home construction in
the Caldwell area, and had a woodworking shop. Upon moving to the Idaho
Falls area, he delivered furniture for Ahlstrom Furniture and also worked
in T.V. repair.
He was an active member of The United Methodist Church
in Middleton and a charter member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Idaho
Falls.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering, making custom
furniture and cedar chests and all kinds of woodworking.

Daughter: Geri Lu Denman, Boise, ID
Daughter: Wendy Mae McCracken, Phoenix, AZ
Sister: Ruth Kaufman, Bellville, KS
7 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Duane and his wife,
Miriam.
Funeral Services will be announced at later date with
burial will be in Middleton Cemetery in Caldwell. Arrangements are under
the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
Military Rites will be performed by the VFW Post in Caldwell.
