Wayne Lorenzo Munson, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 20, 2010, at his home of natural causes.
Wayne was born December 25, 1922, in Milo, Idaho, to Swen Munson and Carrie Elizabeth Bradshaw Munson. He grew up in Milo, Ucon, and Fairview and attended schools there.
He entered the U. S. Navy in November 1941 and served his country as a Gunners Mate First Class in World War II on the USS Brooklyn.
Wayne married Mary Winnefred Hansen in November, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was an appliance serviceman and worked for Bon Marché and Cleverley’s. Mary passed away April 6, 2010.
Wayne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne and Mary enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hunting by themselves or with friends and family. They took many trips through the US, Alaska, and Canada which they enjoyed very much. Mary and Wayne went to bowling tournaments and won many trophies.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Edwin Munson of Moab, UT; two sisters, Helen Jephson of Idaho Falls and Lenore Jones of Ucon, ID, and a very supportive friend, Jackie Kennedy. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Mary, an infant son, Chester, and two brothers, Bud Munson and Jack Munson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Doug Hillman of the Idaho Falls LDS 24th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Wood East Side.
Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
