Ivan Wayne Christensen, 80, of Shelley, passed away October 8, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Wayne was born February 3, 1936, in Jameston, Idaho, to Ivan John Christensen and Ida Wright Christensen. He grew up and attended schools in Jameston and graduated from Shelley High School. He also attended Idaho State University trade school. On July 1, 1955, he married Alice Anne Harker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Duane, Dennis, Debra, and Darlene. Wayne and Anne made their home in Shelley, Idaho, where Wayne worked as a contractor and carpenter. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. He loved to bowl and was in a bowling league for many years. He built homes and enjoyed working with wood. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Anne Christensen of Shelley, ID; son, Duane (Jan) Christensen of Garland, UT; son, Dennis (Penny) Christensen of Shelley, ID; daughter, Debra (Ed) Hammond of Rigby, ID; daughter, Darlene (John) Hartley of American Falls, ID; brother, Robert (Stephanie) Christensen of Provo, UT; sister, Linda (Leland) Matheson of UT; sister, Julie Hicks of OR; sister, Colleen Christensen of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Lynn Christensen of OR; and 19 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine Schmier; and sister, Lorraine McCullom. Funeral services for Ivan Wayne, and his wife Alice Anne, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Shelley LDS Jameston Ward, 1101 East 1250 North, with Bishop Allen officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Avenue) and Thursday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
