WANDA TIBBETTS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Wanda Sophie Skutnick Tibbetts, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 6, 2008, at Good Samaritan Society, Idaho Falls Village, of heart failure. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
She was born July 14, 1919, in Salamanca, New York, to Michael Skutnick and Sophie Pachlina Skutnick. She grew up and attended schools in New York and graduated from Salamanca High School. She took her nurses training at Bradford Nursing School & Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She married Rodney Blynn Tibbetts June 26, 1943, in San Diego, California. They made their home in Quincy, California, for 13 years and Shoup, Idaho, for five years. A Registered Nurse, Wanda served as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1943. Following her military service, she worked at Downey Community Hospital. Rodney passed away October 16, 2005. She moved to Idaho Falls in January, 2007.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining family and friends, and traveling with her husband.

Daughter: Melody Ann Tibbetts-Zernich of Quincy, CA
Son: Michael Blynn Tibbetts of Colson Creek, ID
Brother: Alois Skutnick of Roy, UT
Brother: Edwin Skutnick of Silverlake, CA
Sister: Isabel Sander of San Marcos, CA
Sister: Adela Fosburg of Whittier, CA
6 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rodney Tibbetts.
Services will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2008, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 9th & Lee, with Father Joe McDonald officiating. Additional Services will be held at a later date in Quincy, California. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
