Wanda Rae (Duersch) Mohr

Wanda Rae Duersch Mohr, 72, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away May 7, 2020, at her home.

Wanda was born May 9, 1947, in Driggs, Idaho. Her father and mother, Alma and Nada Duersch, ran a dairy farm in Alta, Wyoming. Wanda worked on the farm along with six brothers and sisters all during her primary and high school years. She milked cows, operated hay and grain equipment, and performed a variety of other tasks usually found on the farm. In order to earn money to attend college, Wanda worked a variety of jobs in Jackson and Teton Valley.

Wanda attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and BYU in Provo to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. She taught school and managed a champion drill team in Blanding, Utah.

In June of 1973, she married Douglas Mohr in the Ogden LDS Temple. They lived in Price, Utah, for two years then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they lived for the next 45 years. Wanda was always known as a person of great determination.

At the age of 28, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This disease, along with other complications, would be with her the rest of her life. Even with her many challenges, she always faced life with a positive, helpful attitude. She lifted and inspired many and always looked for opportunities to be helpful to those around her. She had a love for the outdoors and going camping with her family. Her goal was to start the camping season at Easter time and keep it going till the snow came.

Wanda began oil painting in her thirties and became quite a skilled artist, producing more than 100 works. She was inspired throughout her life by the beautiful Teton mountain range and loved painting landscapes. She also became proficient with many craft projects, including ceramics.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Nada Duersch. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Mohr; her children, Melanie Mohr and Jonathan Mohr; and six brothers and sisters living in Idaho, Utah, and Arizona.

Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Pratt Cemetery in Alta, Wyoming. Due to the Covid-19 circumstances, the service will be video recorded and will be available the following day, posted with her obituary.
