Walter Struhs, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 10, 2013, at his home of causes incident to age. He was under the care of his family and Solace Hospice.
Walter was born February 25, 1921, in Cedar Point, Idaho, to Joseph Struhs and Anna Lydia Huber Struhs. He grew up in Cedar Point and attended Cedar Point Elementary and Madison High School.
He served as a Tec 5 in the U. S. Army Military Police during World War II as part of the 57th Engineer Combat Company, in Fuchinobe, Japan. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and Victory Medals.
On April 5, 1947, he married Donna Mae Scott at Dillon, Montana. To this union were born eight children, Deanna, Gail, Linda, Janice, Gerald, Brent, Kerry, and Vea. They made their home in Rigby for seven years before moving to Idaho Falls, where Walter worked at Heavy Highway Concrete Construction.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Labor Union. Walter enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and his family.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna Mae Struhs of Idaho Falls, ID;

Daughter, Linda (Terry) Brunson of Blackfoot, ID,
Daughter, Janice Esser of Basalt, ID,
Son, Brent (Katherine) Struhs of Idaho Falls, ID,
Son, Kerry (Cara) Struhs of Rigby, ID,
Daughter, Vea (Mike) Walton of Idaho Falls, ID.
27 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Deanna Wilkenson, a son, Gerald Struhs, a sister, Louise, and three brothers, Arnold, Reynold, and Alfred.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 13th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Chris Wright officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
