Walter Allen Kelso, 84, of Idaho Falls, died May 20, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born February 5, 1920, in Elsie, Perkins County, Nebraska, to Albert Clarence Kelso and Elizabeth Gruuman Kelso. He had four sisters. Walter spent his childhood and school years in Madrid, Nebraska.
He served as a Military Policeman in World War II and the European Theater in France and Luxenburg and had many stories of his experiences as a soldier. Following the war, he moved to Idaho Falls in 1945.
He married Alice Payne Olson in 1940 and they were later divorced. He married Betty Meyer, his wife of 47 years, in 1956.
Walter worked at Clark Concrete, Weathertite Block and retired from School District 91. He was an accomplished musician and music was one of his first loves. He was well known in the area as a musician, loved country music and was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers; he also had a love for the outdoors and fishing. He loved spending time with his six grandchildren, Kym (Dannelle) Kelso, Phoenix, AZ; Curtis (Candy) Kelso, Mandie (Kim) Ingelstrum, Buffie (Ed) South, all of Idaho Falls, and Casey Beau (Paulina) Kelso, Pocatello, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jeffery Kelso, and three sisters, Virginia Lovenberg, Francis Mallott, and Neil Poe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls.
The family will visit with friends Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
