IDAHO FALLS, ID --
Walter Dean Dixon, 83, of Idaho Falls, died December 2, 2009, at his home.
He was born November 21, 1926 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Walter Ellsworth Dixon and Grace Violet Clark Dixon. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Dean served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.
On February 26, 1947 he married Bonnie Rae Williams in Idaho Falls. Together they raised five children. He was a member of Christ Community Church.
Dean farmed in the New Sweden area and ranched in Lima, Montana. He served on the Idaho Falls District #91 School Board for nine years, acting as chairman for three of those years. He was involved with the Eastern Idaho Potato Control Committee, the Cattleman’s Association, and the Idaho Cattle Feeders Association, as well.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.

Son: Dennie Ray (Chris) Dixon, Meridian, ID
Son: James Corey (Penny) Dixon, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Karen Jan (Alan) Hoskins, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: LaVerne Marie Kruse, Boise, ID
Brother: Donald Ellsworth Dixon, Idaho Falls, ID
14 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dennis, and his granddaughter, Angela Dixon Osterman.
Funeral Services for Dean will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Pastor Rick Lum of Christ Community Church officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1 - 2 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Memorial Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
