CHARLIE DAVIS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Our father, Walter Charles “Charlie” Davis, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, at his home, comforted with his family by his side.
Dad was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on September 15, 1937, to Walter C. Davis and Ann Pesoto Davis, from Idaho and Minnesota, respectively. Upon arriving into this world he was greeted by two older sisters, Betty and Billie, whom he now joins and he dearly loved. Growing up in Pocatello, he had an assortment of jobs including one in his youth in which he worked as a “Pinsetter” for a local bowling alley. Dad always enjoyed telling the story of how he could earn extra money if he allowed the bowlers to roll their bowling balls at him while he was setting up the pins. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1955. He enlisted in the Army, where he served in Germany and Fort Ord, California. After serving four years in the military he returned home to Pocatello. He worked several odd jobs until he enrolled as a student at Idaho State University. After finishing school took a job as an Instrument Specialist at the INEL, where he remained employed for 29 years. He retired in 1995.
Dad enjoyed spending his time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and taking his best friend, “Kodi,” a Labrador Retriever, swimming and for long walks. Dad also loved the company of his other dog, “Paco,” who remained by his side throughout the last years of his life.
Our Dad will be remembered most by those who loved him for his sharp wit, his wonderful sense of humor and his generosity.
He will be missed by his family and friends. A daughter, Terri Tracy of McCammon, two sons, Darrin Davis of Idaho Falls, and Chris Davis of Sanford, North California, and five grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Blackfoot-Grove City Cemetery with his son, Chris Davis, officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Bingham County Veterans Memorial Team.

Condolences sent online:
My name is Charlie Coxe and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Charlie Davis.
Charlie and I were play pals long before we even started grade school at Lincoln Elementary School. I lived in a tenement house at 340 S. Hayes when Charlie was living on Benton Street. We went all thru grade school, junior high, and Poky High school together and our friendship just grew and grew and we were almost like brothers and shared our experiences as well as our thoughts . We had no secrets from each other.
Sad to say after high school we sorta went our separate ways and lost some contact with each other. Over the years I often thought of Charlie and wondered where he was and how he was doing. We did meet at one of our high school reunions years ago and had a fun time getting caught up with each others lives. A few years back I was working relief work for Rite Aid Drug on Broadway Street in Idaho Falls and Charlie came in for some prescriptions to be filled. What a happy time to see Charlie again after all this time. I saw Charlie quite a few times when I worked the store and looked forward to seeing him each time. I assume he stopped trading with the store so that he could get his prescription delivered instead of having to come in to get them. He had told me that his health wasn't all that good and had to take it easy . I retired some 5 years ago and haven't been in Idaho Falls all that much.
A weird thing happened to me last week on Tuesday or Wednesday. I was driving my truck to town and for no reason I can think of started to think about Charlie. Betty might remember when we were kids that Charlie and I had two imaginary characters we talked about all the time. We called them fatso and skinso . We spent many hours talking about these characters and the funny things they did. The day I was driving the truck fatso and skinso entered my mind. Why I couldn't tell you. I think someone was trying to tell me something. I could go on for hours but will finish with this. I want to pay my respects to Charlie and extend my condolences to all the family. I may not be able to go to the service Sat ,but If not, I will be there in spirit. Charlie will always be like a brother to me and I will miss him very much.
