WALTER J. ATAMANCZYK
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Walter John Atamanczyk, Sr., 88, of
Idaho Falls, died February 17, 2005, at Life Care Center.
He was born October 2, 1916, at Harrah, Oklahoma, to
Peter Atamanczyk and Mary Lutomski Atamanczyk. He grew up and attended
schools in the area. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army
participating in the D-Day Invasion and received numerous military awards.
He attended U. S. Army Technical School and Auto Mechanic Trade School.
On July 2, 1944, he married Yvonne Bringhurst in Pocatello.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 2,
1954. They had ten children. She died March 19, 1980. On July 25, 1981,
he married Mildred Farrer Poulter in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked
as an auto mechanic and was a licensed private pilot.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. He served in many positions which included Executive Secretary,
Sunday School Superintendent, Home Teacher, Temple Officiator and was
involved with the Home Extraction Program.
He enjoyed composing music, playing his guitar and animals.
He was a dedicated supporter of the church missionary program, supporting
many grandsons and others on their missions. His children and extended
family were his pride and joy.

Daughter: Danna Lee (Mike) Bonney, Mountain Home, ID
Stepson: Greg Poulter
Stepdaughter: Barbara Poulter
Stepdaughter: Janet Smith
Sister: Pauline Piotrowicz
Sister: Louise Wyskup
23 Grandchildren, and 22 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; three sons, Peter Louis, Samuel,
and Robin; a daughter, Laurelie; two brothers and a sister.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February
21, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) with Ben Allen officiating.
The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood
Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the services Monday.
Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, ID.
