Wally Wallace

Uriel "Wally" Scott Wallace, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 3, 2017 at MorningStar Senior Living Center. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho and his loving family.

Wally was born April 22, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Benjamin Butler Wallace and Rosa Olive Owen Wallace. He grew up on the Wallace Dairy in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

On November 20, 1949, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dolores" Haller Wallace in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born five children; Bruce, Kenneth, Ronald, Gary and Tammy. Wally and Dolores made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Early in life he worked on the family dairy and various farms. Later, he worked at Browning's Garage where eventually he did auto upholstery. Then he worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for over 30 years with a career culminating in extensive work involving research and development of automated welding. By example, he left a legacy of the value of hard work to his family and those who knew him.

Wally loved outdoor activities and enjoyed water and snow skiing, hiking and backpacking, hunting, and camping including the annual family trip to Redfish Lake. He enjoyed working with his hands doing gardening, woodworking, building and remodeling, metal machining, fabrication and welding. He also participated with his wife in square dancing both with the Shelley Ruffles & Russets and the Idaho Falls Promenaders. He and his wife enjoyed traveling both throughout the United States and abroad.

He was always available to support and encourage his children and grandchildren in their activities and pursuits. Many hours were spent watching their sporting events, plays and performances, helping with pinewood derby cars and just spending time with them.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities including scouting in which he attended the National Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park with his troop in 1969.

He was blessed with lifetime friends, Betty and Darlo Hansen, Joy and Bill Hobbs, Melba and Lew Opperman, and Montie and Lynn Pardonnet and their families.

Wally is survived by his sons, Bruce (Linda) Wallace of Idaho Falls, ID; Kenneth (Kami) Wallace of Arlington, TX; Ronald (SueAnn) Wallace of Idaho Falls, ID; Gary (Cyndi) Wallace of Idaho Falls, ID; and daughter, Tammy (Scott) Cross of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Ivan (Lorraine) Wallace of Rigby, ID; sister, Dorothy (Eldon) Walker of West Valley, UT; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
