Wally Lanier

It is with great sadness that the family of Wally Lanier, age 84, announces her passing on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Waltraud Johanna (Wally) was born June 25, 1928, in Tiegenort, Poland, to Hermann and Käthe Albrecht Claassen. Her childhood was lovingly shared with two sisters and one brother. Wally married U.S. Sergeant Allen Stark in August of 1954, and while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany they were blessed with twin daughters, Diane Storey of Boise, and Carol Larson of West Valley City, Utah. In 1960, they moved to the United States where Wally earned her U.S. Citizenship. They parted ways after 25 years of marriage. Wally fell in love with and married Wayne Lanier in 1981, who brought three wonderful sons into the union: Mike Lanier of Idaho Falls, Neil Lanier of Idaho Falls, and Jerry Lanier of Rosemount, Minnesota. Wayne and Wally were blessed with 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Wally loved all animals and devoted much of her life to volunteering. To all her friends and family, if you wish to remember her, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. MOM – we are so proud of you for the strength you have shown and your integrity. We love and miss you! Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Pastor Dan Smouse of Christ Community Church officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Wally’s name to the Idaho Falls Humane Society, 2450 Hemmert, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
