Vodis Conley Ward, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 15, 2011, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
She was born November 12, 1916, in Portage, Utah to John Franklin Conley and Sarah Matilda Gibbs Conley. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Bear River High School.
On May 15, 1937, she married Kenneth Ward of Malad, Idaho in Portage, Utah. Their only child, Eric Franklin Ward was born October 6, 1938. The family lived in Boise, Idaho, Ogden, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Provo, Utah before moving to Idaho Falls in 1950. Ken preceded her in death in June of 1983.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and also worked as a clerk at Don Wilson Drug in Idaho Falls.
Vodis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served with the Primary and the Relief Society of the church. She also served a mission at the Family History Center in Idaho Falls for the LDS Church. Vodis enjoyed reading, serving in the church, and traveling with her friends and family. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, a national service sorority.

Grandson: Eric Craig Ward, Ogden, UT
Granddaughter: Melanie Kay (Don) Arntsen, Chandler, AZ
Daughter-in-law: Marilyn Ward (Jim) Shaffer, Boise, ID
Great Grandchildren: David Ward, Max Wergin, Michael Arntsen, Caitlin Arntsen, and Megan Arntsen
Great Great Grandchildren: Caleb Ward, London Ward, and Annabelle Ward.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. Conley and Sarah Matilda Gibbs Conley, her husband Kenneth M. Ward, her son, Eric Franklin Ward, and her brothers Max Conley, Keith Conley, and Clayton Conley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, at the Portage Cemetery in Portage, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Fund and the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
