VIRGINIA J. P. SMITH
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Virginia Juliet Peterson Smith, 88, of Idaho Falls, died May 23, 2002, at the Sandy Regional Health Center in Sandy, Utah.
She was born March 6, 1914 in Heber City, Utah, to Samuel Leon Peterson and Geneva Nuttall Peterson. At 18, she moved to Ammon where she spent the remainder of her life except the last several years which were spent with her children in Idaho Falls, Taylorsville, Utah and Citrus Heights, California.
On November 24, 1933, she married Clyde A. Smith in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage.
Virginia was a dedicated homemaker all of her life and an accomplished seamstress making her own children's clothing and sewing professionally. She loved music and played the piano and violin. Her hobbies included writing poetry, stories and life histories, doing genealogy work, and painting and drawing and her flower arrangements were well known at church. She and her husband worked as guides for many years at the Bonneville County Museum and she was very active in scouting and The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, serving as president for a number of years. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Virginia served in many positions. She was a temple worker, stake historian and teacher in ward and stake auxiliaries. She was known for her strong testimony of the Gospel and love for her family.

(Paul) Blackburn, Taylorsville, UT59 Grandchildren, 72Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.She is also survived by two brothers, Gerald Peterson and Dal Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband and 3 grandsons.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Friday, May 31, 2002, at the Ammon LDS 7th Ward, 4375 East Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Lloyd Cox officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
