Virginia Louise Swearingen King, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 25, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Virginia was born October 23, 1928, in Galena, Kansas, to Milo Swearingen and Annie May Wadkins Swearingen. The family moved to Idaho Falls when she was eight years old. She attended Riverside Elementary, Central Junior High and Idaho Falls High School. She received her GED in the 1980s.
On June 16, 1946, she married Samuel Oliver "Bud" King in Elko, Nevada. To this union were born four children, Jeff, Randy, Krys, and Rebecca. Virginia and Bud made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Virginia worked as a housekeeper for the hospital and at potato warehouses, also as a waitress at Ford’s Cafe.
She enjoyed bingo, cards, family gatherings, reading, Pinochle, camping, and fishing.
Virginia is survived by her
son, Randy King of Lewisville, ID;
son, Jeff King of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Krys (Tom) Meade of Idaho Falls, ID;
brother, Aldon (Marcia) Swearingen.
21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam King; daughter, Rebecca Sue King; sister, Lucille Croft; two brothers, Jim and Harold Swearingen; granddaughter, Valerie Lew; and grandson, Douglas Meade.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Pastor Dan Kishiyama of Watersprings Church officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
