Virginia Garcia

Virginia M. Garcia, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 13, 2015, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Virginia was born October 11, 1933, in Erie, Colorado, to Ramon Lopes Munoz and Mary Franco Monares Munoz. She grew up and attended schools in Erie. She also attended Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical College where she earned her GED. In 1951, she married Pete Reyes Garcia in Erie, Colorado. To this union were born four children, Daniel, Joseph, Michael, and Kathleen. Virginia and Pete made their home in Idaho Falls where Virginia was a loving wife and mother. She worked as a potato sorter, housekeeper, switch operator, and janitor. She enjoyed cooking, working on crafts, shopping, and spending time with family. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Pete Garcia of Ammon, ID; son, Joseph P. (Sherry) Garcia of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Michael A. (Laura) Garcia of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kathleen R. Garcia Horman of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, John R. Munoz of Ault, CO; sister, Margaret Mestas of Pacifica, CA; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Mary Munoz; son, Daniel R. Garcia; brother, Paul L. Munoz; and sister, Carmen M. Munoz. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.
