Virginia May Cleverley, 89, of Rigby, passed away May 20, 2012, at her home at The Gardens in Rigby. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Virginia was born December 13, 1922, in Ammon, Idaho, to James Andrew Carter and Maud Gardner Carter. She grew up in Ammon and graduated from Ammon High School.
She married Mark Delbert Cleverley May 1, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He passed away October 6, 1997. Together they raised their family of seven children in Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Their family was the joy of Virginia’s life. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, reading, and just being with her family. She moved to Rexburg in 1967.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served as Relief Society President, Primary President, in the Stake and Ward Primary Presidency, and as a teacher. She and her husband served four full-time LDS missions, to Wisconsin; Raleigh, North Carolina; Salt Lake City Family History; and Peoria, Illinois.
Virginia is survived by her children,

Daughter, Nancy K. (Val) Koster of Idaho Falls, ID;
Daughter, Susan L. (Tom) Moss of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son, M. David (Debbie) Cleverley of Meridian, ID;
Daughter, Janet (Kevin) Webster of Rigby, ID;
Son, Bruce C. (Cindy) Cleverley of Rupert, ID;
Son, Kevin J. (Nantalie) Cleverley of Sugar City, ID;
Brother, Ron Carter of Kalispell, MT;
Sister, Laura Finlayson of Soda Springs, ID;
19 Grandchildren and 57 Great Grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, six sisters, and a grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Ryan M. Cleverley officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
