Virginia Carlson

Virginia Anderson Carlson, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 24, 2013 at her home in Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community of natural causes. She was under the care of her family and Hands of Hope Hospice. Virginia was born June 19, 1923, in Limon, Colorado, to Gustaf W. Anderson and Marie Christina Johnson Anderson. She grew up and attended schools in Limon and graduated from Limon High School. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from Chapman College in California. On July 9, 1943, she married Roy Albert Carlson in Denver, Colorado. A wife, mother, and homemaker, Virginia also spent many years as an elementary school teacher at various schools in California. Roy passed away May 25, 1995, in Denver, Colorado. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls. Above all else, Virginia loved her family. Virginia is survived by Son, R. Douglas (Linda R.) Carlson of Idaho Falls, ID, Son, Keith Wesley (Carol Jean) Carlson of Dumas, TX; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustaf Anderson and Marie Anderson Jenson, two sisters, Floreine Mains and Thelma Johnson, and two brothers, W. E. Anderson and Glenn Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the Mortuary. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
