Violet Ball Blake, 94 of St. George, Utah, formerly of Ammon, died May 10, 2014, at her daughter's home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was under the care of her family and OneSource Hospice. Violet was born April 20, 1920, in Ammon, Idaho, to Willard J. Ball and Ethel Singley Ball, the oldest of thirteen children. After graduating from Ammon High School, she later joined her high school sweetheart, Rulon Dayley Blake, who was in officer / pilot training, and they were married May 8, 1940, in Santa Ana, California. They had two children, Ana Louise (Hilleshiem) and Teresa Karlene (Davidson). Worldwide travels for 32 years with the Air Force moved them 41 different times. Following retirement they settled in Bountiful, Utah, and wintered in St. George, Utah. Violet was an excellent organizer, decorator and hostess. She loved elegance and fashion, yet could throw a bowling ball for a 200+ score. She crocheted hundreds of afghans that became treasured gifts. She loved to play cards and could play blackjack with the best of them. Reading and crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime. She is survived by her two daughters, Ana Louise (Tom) Hilleshiem and Teresa Karlene Davidson; six grandchildren, Karrie (Brent) Martin, Angela Hilleshiem, Dayle Hilleshiem and Dayleen Browning, Shana (Craig) Barr, Kara (Curt) Allred, 15 great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; five sisters Marvell (Val) Morgan, Elmoyne Holbrook, Margene (Dee) Nish, Jeneal Wimer and Barbara Wadsworth. Preceding her in death are her parents, Willard J and Ethel Ball, her husband, Rulon Dayley Blake, four brothers, Lionel Ball, Morris Ball, Elan Ball, and Walter Ball; three sisters, Ercel Monsen, Laura Buttars, and Lorraine Nelson. Viewing will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Graveside Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Ammon Cemetery.
