Viola Louise Allen Gardner, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 26, 2015, at her son's home of natural causes. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Vi was born July 12, 1923, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Clarence Morley Allen and Cora Gates Waters Allen. She grew up and attended schools in Ammon and Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School. She also attended business school in Idaho Falls.
On March 4, 1944, she married Earl Vernon Gardner in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Larry, Linda, Lynn, and Cora May. Vi and Earl made their home in Idaho Falls, Rupert, Idaho, and Yuma, Arizona. A wife, mother, and homemaker, Vi also worked at Woolworth’s. During World War II she worked in a plant making nuts and bolts. Earl passed away August 8, 1996.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed quilting, cards, fishing, reading, gardening, painting, square dancing, and her grandkids.
Vi is survived by
brother, Melvin (Lillie) Allen of Yuma, AZ;
son, Larry Joe Gardner of Blackfoot, ID;
daughter, Linda V. Gardner of Yuma, AZ;
son, Lynn Gardner of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Cora May (Stephen) Drayton of Pocatello, ID;
5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Leora Lundquist, Thelma Franck, and Bertha Wilcox; and two brothers, Cecil Allen and an infant brother, George Allen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
