Be at peace with yourself Verona "Roni" Shosted Rudd, 89 "years young," passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 25 at Tambree Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Idaho Falls. Since her birth on July 1, 1929, to her parents Glenwood C. Shosted and Clara E. Murri Shosted in St. Anthony, Idaho, Roni graced everyone she met with her kindness, warmth, and world-famous banana bread. Along with a legacy of service and a gaggle of grandchildren, she leaves behind a set of guidelines by which to live a good life. Live each day to the fullest Roni knew her life partner, Wendell Vernon Rudd, through grade school and years of Saturday night dances. He was a "terrific dancer," and once Roni enrolled at Utah State University, Wendell charmed her into a date. They married in 1950 and enjoyed 35 happy years together before Wendell’s passing in 1985. Be a friend to all Roni was beloved in the Idaho Falls community for her service in the Skyline Booster Club and other volunteer work. She was truly "blue through and through," adorning her home with grizzly bears and dedicating her days to improving the school and community she loved. Be happy, always smile Roni navigated the world with a perpetual grin. She was quick to laugh and to tease. She loved card and board games, joining her friends for a weekly round of pinochle and teaching her family the rules to Old Maid and Dumb Stupid Game. Roni loved to travel; she collected Hawaiian coral, Dutch clogs and a constellation of countries in magnets on the fridge. When given a task to do, give it your best In her youth, Roni lifeguarded and taught swimming lessons. She worked for many years at Ben Franklin Craft and the Party Shop and Reception Center in Idaho Falls. She was a caretaker, tending to her jungle of houseplants, a tangle of raspberries and lilies-of-the-valley, and the gangly grandkids who climbed trees and ran barefoot in her backyard. She made things with her hands: jam, hot cocoa, plastic canvas projects with yarn. Many who knew her called her "Mom," as her nurturing extended to friends and neighbors, too. Try to do good to all people Roni is preceded in death by her husband Wendell, son Steven, parents Glenwood and Clara, brother Marvin, and granddaughter Audra. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Lynn) Rudd, Loralee (John) Anderson, Curtis (Dorothy) Rudd, Sheila (Vic) Gentle, and Scott Rudd, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. They remember her generosity and her lifelong commitment to her loved ones, from the Heise swimming trips she organized to the birthday cards she wrote each year. Take time to wonder at life and the world; see some humor in life where you can A remembrance of life will be held in Roni’s honor on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1450 Mountainview Lane in Idaho Falls. Her friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate her long and exemplary life.
