Vernon Pack Thomas

Vernon Pack Thomas, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 23, 2025, at Eagle Rock Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia.

Vernon was born September 1, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Quincy Pack and Verna Irene Jacobson Pack. Sadly, his mother, Verna, passed away in childbirth. Vernon was adopted by Kenneth Leo Thomas and Carmen Cecelia Jacobson Thomas. He grew up in Iona and attended Lincoln grade school. Vernon graduated from Bonneville High School in 1985.

In 2000, Vernon married Karen Bailey, and they had a son, Cody Leo Thomas. Vernon and Karen later divorced. Vernon made his home in Idaho Falls where he worked as a cook for J. J. North’s.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Michigan Dearborn Mission. He also enjoyed many years in the scouting program. He loved dogs and they loved him. Vernon had a very giving heart, especially when it came to giving rides. He was always willing to give a ride to anybody that needed one.

Vernon is survived by his sister, DeLillian Reed; brother, Lyman Pack; brother, Boyd (Bernice) Pack; brother, Rick (Galena) Pack; sister, Carla Plaster; sister, Trudy (Bill) Clem; brother, Terrell (Terri) Thomas; sister, Trina (Scott) Andersen; sister, Tracy (David) Jensen; sister, Doreen (Leif) Sorensen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents, George and Verna Pack; parents, Ken and Carmen Thomas; son, Cody Leo Thomas; brother, R. Todd Thomas; brother, Everett Burgess; and sister, GeorgiaLynn Pack.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 South Yellowstone Highway. The family will visit with friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
