Vernal Dean Cook, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 14, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after a lingering illness.
Vern was born June 23, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Vernal K. Cook and Eva Catherine Gray Cook. He attended school in Las Plumas High School in Oroville, California. Vernal worked as a firefighter for Forest Service in California and in construction. Vern served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Vernal is survived by his soul mate Janae David;
Daughter: Carol Haeckel of Fremont, CA;
Son: Daniel Cook of Idaho Falls;
Son: Michael Smart of Elk Grove, CA;
Son: Jason Smart of Citrus Heights, CA;
Daughter: Laura George of Oroville, CA;
eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild;
Sisters: Beverly Salinas of Bandon, OR; Susan Webber-Brown of Oroville, CA; and Bonnie Brent of Sacramento, CA.
He was preceded in death by father, Vernal K Cook, mother, Eva Griemsman.
Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Rose Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
