Verna Ballard Sessions, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 4, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village.
Verna was born May 11, 1918, in Cedar City, Utah, to John Harvey Ballard and Alice Hamilton Ballard. At the age of two, her family moved to the Upper Presto/Basalt area to farm. She attended Basalt and Firth schools and graduated from Firth High School.
On March 25, 1939, she married Lewis Gene Sessions in Firth, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Darryl, LeAnn, Max and LaJean. Verna and Lewis were later divorced. Verna was a devoted mother and homemaker. She worked in the hardware department at Sears Roebuck & Co., retiring after 25 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, camping, fishing, word search, and being with her family. She loved to drive and took many car trips.
Verna is survived by daughter, LeAnn (Bill) Emery of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Max (friend, Ruth Rogers) Sessions of Rigby, ID. 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, LaJean Kinghorn; son, Darryl Sessions; brother, Rex Ballard, and sister, Iola Summers.
A Visitation with Life Sketch will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. on Friday, March 10th at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) with burial to follow at Fielding Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
