Verna Joy Monson - 09/06/2002 Verna Joy Monson - 09/06/2002 VERNA MONSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Verna Joy Monson, 72, of Idaho Falls, died September 5, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Charles Bonar and Thora Mercy Bailey Bonar. She attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. She married Monte Neville Monson on May 25, 1955 at Idaho Falls. They traveled to Texas and California where Verna was employed by Hughes Electronics. They then returned to Idaho Falls, where they raised their family, and finally settled on their beloved horse ranch near Firth. She worked as a Unit Secretary for 28 years at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Monte passed away June 14, 1991. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed quilting, canvas needlepoint, knitting and scrapbooking. Surviving are:Daughter: Paula Jacobson Birt, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Brian (Carrie) Monson, Rexburg, IDDaughter: Shawnae (Pedro) Lopez, Firth, IDStepson: Charles (Molly) Hankins, Colorado Springs, COStepfather: Claude Smith, Idaho Falls, ID17 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2002, at the Goshen LDS Ward Church, with Bishop Gordon Harker officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and for one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
