VERN L. COLE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Vern Leroy Cole, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 11, 2005, at his home. He was born March 5, 1924, in Denver, Colorado, to Roy Charles Cole and Audrey Jane McLachlin Cole. He grew up in Dixon, Wyoming, then moved to Rawlins, Wyoming, and graduated from Rawlins High School. He was the All State Quarterback for Wyoming in 1943. He served as a Machinist Second Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Following the war he lived in Richmond, California for six years. He attended Contra Costa Junior College in San Pablo, California, then lived in Vacaville, California, for 16 years before moving to Idaho Falls. He married Betty Jo Salyer February 8, 1943, in Oakland, California. He worked as a machinist, pottery worker, grocery store clerk, milkman, and pipefitter. He was a member of the Topart of Sciots, was a NRA Life Member, and was a Master Mason. Surviving are: His Wife: Betty Jo Cole of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Vern Leroy (Vertis) Cole, Jr. Of Antioch, CA Daughter: Shirley Jo (Carl) Woodruff of Idaho Falls, ID 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by parents, a son, Richard Ray Cole, a brother, Charles Cole, and a sister, Jeanette Gill. Private Family Services will be held.
