Vern Keller

Vernon David Keller, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 3, 2020, at his home.

Vern was born December 14, 1942, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arthur Jacob Keller and Emma Elizabeth Keller. He was raised Catholic in Roberts, Idaho, and was the last class to graduate there. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably for four years.

In 1961, he married Dana Lee Favero. Together they had four children. They later divorced. In 1994, he married Afton Iola Sommers. Vern and Afton made their home in IAmmon, Idaho, where Vern worked as a farmer and later became a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed going camping, playing pan with his aunts, and going to Fort Hall to play the machines. Most of all, he loved having his family come to visit.

Vern is survived by his loving wife, Afton; sister, Anita Hammon of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughters, Leesa Keller of Cornville, AZ, Kim (Pat) Cornell of Silverlake, OR; and Nattalie (Keith) Bradley of Rigby, ID; son, Doug (Angela) Keller of Lake Helen, FL; step-daughters, Tina (Allen) Foster of Idaho Falls, ID, and Tracy (Doug) Bingham of Idaho Falls, ID; step-sons, Greg (Kellie) Nielson of Idaho Falls, ID, and Cary (Julie) Nielson of Rigby, ID; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma; brother, Rick Keller and Philip Keller; sisters, Dorothy Quick and Karol Winder; brother, Rick Keller; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Archer-Sutton Cemetery. For your safety and others, please wear a mask or face covering to the services.

Military Rites will be performed by the Madison County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.
