Click Here To View Memorial Video Verlin Eugene “Gene” Ball, 85, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at his home. Gene was born on April 4, 1930, to Morris Marion Ball and Elsie Wilkins Ball. He was born and raised in Ucon, Idaho and graduated from Ucon High School. Gene later entered the Navy, where he was a 3rd Class Petty Officer during the Korean War. During a hiatus from the Navy, he met and married Nadine Wilson. They had five children together with one son that passed away shortly after birth. They were later divorced and Gene was awarded custody of his children. Gene was a very dedicated and hard working man. He spent 26 years with the United States Post Office before retiring. In his free time Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good game of golf. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved socializing with his friends and neighbors at church and served as a 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric. He was loved and admired by many and his presence will truly be missed. Gene is survived by his children; Gary E. (Debra) Ball of Star, Idaho, Jamie L. Ball of Portland, Oregon, and Debra J. (Jason) Croft of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Arlen Ball, sons, Michael Ball and Daniel Ball and great grandsons, Jaden and Kaden Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Boulevard (1235 Juniper). The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 11-11:45 prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
