Verlene Orr Triplett, 90, passed away in Idaho Falls on Saturday, January 18, 2025, following complications of a stroke.
Verlene was born March 23, 1934, to Ernest and Luella Orr of Egin Bench. She was the oldest of 11 children and graduated from South Fremont High School. Though she was raised on the farm in Egin, she enjoyed many parts of the world through extensive travel. She loved seeing the world, but had a particular fondness for Canada where she served as a full-time missionary at the age of 23.
She married Gary Triplett in 1974, one day before her 40th birthday. Verlene and Gary made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Verlene attended beauty school and then worked as a dental assistant. Great was her satisfaction by maintaining immaculately her home, yard, and garden. Never was a spec of dust allowed to settle on that shiny red Cadillac!
She assumed the role of go-to family history expert. Many relatives near and far would lean on Verlene for information she possessed when it came to their history. She loved collecting and distributing information regarding her history and felt a kinship with those who preceded her.
She was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the people of the Idaho Falls 31st Ward where she spent the last 50 years. She looked forward to associations with good friends and neighbors each day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents, Ernest and Luella Orr; parents in-law, Joseph Triplett and LaRee Epperson; siblings, Myrna Larson, Carol Young, Deanna Kerbs, Darrell Orr, Renee Richards, Brenda Sutton, Brad Orr, Jana Poulsen, and a brother who died at birth.
She is survived by a son, Gary Triplett of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Ida (Michael) Wilson of West Jordan, UT; brother, Scott (Vickie) Orr of Plano, ID; in-laws, Larry Kerbs and Rhea Orr; 8 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Idaho Falls 31st Ward, 1165 Azalea Drive. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Parker Cemetery.
