VERL HATFIELD
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- ReVerl “Verl” Hatfield, 76, of Idaho Falls, died April 15, 2002, near St. Anthony.
Verl was born July 21, 1925 to Lawrence Hatifeld and Mary Fidelia Koyle Hatfield in Knightsville, Utah. He grew up and attended grade school and high school in Springville, Utah. He served as a Seaman 2nd Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1946.
Verl married his sweetheart, Norma Marie Daley, August 3, 1947 at Springville, Utah. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1950 and to Ammon in 1953, where they have lived ever since. He worked in his early years for Geneva Steel in Provo, Utah, until his father-in-law taught him to do cement finishing. Verl opened his own business, R. Verl Hatfield Concrete Contractor, and was a contractor in Idaho Falls for most of his life. He was an excellent cement finisher.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a member of the Elks Lodge at one time. Verl donated his time and labor skills to various community projects. Verl had a beautiful voice and taught himself how to play guitar and actually played by ear. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, being in the mountains for gold panning, exploring, and sightseeing. He would tie most of his own flies and taught a lot of people how to tie flies and fly fish. Verl was a craftsman in building and repairing and did his own automotive maintenance. He loved and enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Hatfield, Ammon, IDBrother: Koyle Hatfield, Springville, UTBrother: Richard Hatfield, Rexburg, IDBrother: Larry Hatfield, Bliss, IDBrother: Dee Hatfield, Salt Lake City, UTSister: Mrs. Louise Christensen, Salt Lake City, UTSister: Mrs. Nona Russell, Salt Lake City, UTSister: Evelyn Hatfield, Salt Lake City, UT 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Leon.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, April 22, 2002, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, with Bishop Richard Attebury of the Ammon LDS 6th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services at Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
