Verdis Cox

Verdis Ilean Bloxham Cox, 88, of Idaho Falls, died November 02, 2010 at Lily & Syringa Assisted Living Center. She was born November 28, 1921 at Downey, Idaho, to Richard Thomas Bloxham, Kaysville, Utah and Elsie Henderson Bloxham, Clifton, Idaho. She was the sixth daughter and ninth child of their family of twelve children. She attended schools in Ragged-Louse and Downey, Idaho graduating from Downey High School in 1940. On October 31, 1940 she married Glen H, Cox of Oxford, Idaho in Pocatello, Idaho. She worked for 30 years at many retail stores in Downey, Idaho, Pocatello, Idaho and Idaho Falls, Idaho, retiring in 1987 from J.C. Penny. She was most proud of her seven children and their families and loved to spend time with them. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, but her great love was working in her yard with her flowers she always had the most beautiful roses and Iris. She is survived by five sons, Richard Terry (Dorothy) Cox, Pocatello, Idaho, Craig G. Cox, Pocatello, Idaho, Scott B. Cox, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jeffry Glen (Tamara) Cox, Rigby, Idaho, Cory Jay (Kathy) Cox, Iona, Idaho; two daughters, Carla Cox Niemeier, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sandra Cox (Wayne) Skelton, Irwin Idaho; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Merle and Von Bloxham. She is preceded in death by husband of 62 years, Glen H. Cox; parents; three brothers, Thomas, Don ,Ray “Bill” Bloxham; six sisters, Idona, Vera, Dora, Olive, Jennie, Gail; son-in-law, Chris Martin Niemeier; and great-granddaughter, Makayla Spencer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home, Chapel of the Pines, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, with both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oxford, Idaho Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Lily & Syringa Living Center and Hands of Hope Hospice for all the love and care they gave to our mother.

Funeral Services

Monday November 8, 2010 , 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home

The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, with both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oxford, Idaho Cemetery.
