VERA WALLACE
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- On July 24, 2006, in Idaho Falls, Vera Summers Wallace passed away. We bid farewell to our dear mother, beloved grandmother, and cherished sister and friend.
She was born October 2, 1926, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Newton Summers and Juanita May Bybee Summers. She grew up in Anaconda, Montana, and graduated from Anaconda High School. She married the love of her life, Robert Wayne Wallace, April 6, 1946, in Anaconda, Montana. They were sealed for time and all eternity, January 20, 1948, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Vera lived many other places including Blackfoot, Pocatello, American Falls, and Napa, California. Wherever she resided, her love of life and compassionate spirit made her a friend to all who became acquainted with her. She loved to garden and all who came to visit would be treated to her wonderful fresh or preserved garden vegetables and fruits, especially raspberries. She also loved to bless the lives of others with her delicious breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, cakes, freely giving to anyone in need.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Vera was truly an elect lady, serving throughout her life in various assignments and leadership positions, including President of the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women. She loved music and always sang in her ward choir. She and her husband Bob served as volunteers in the Family History Library in Pocatello and as workers in the Idaho Falls Temple. They successfully completed a full-time mission to Vancouver, British Columbia, from 1988-1990. As a true disciple of Christ, Vera’s life exemplified her love of the Lord and love of her neighbor.
The focus of her life was her calling as wife, mother, and grandmother. She raised five children: Herbert (Vicki) Wallace, Idaho Falls, Martin (Shirley) Wallace, Blackfoot, Dan (Jolene) Wallace, Salem, Utah, Barbara (Victor) Contreras, Chubbuck, and Sharen (Robert) Myers, Idaho Falls. She has 33 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, David Summers and Herbert Summers, and a sister, Montana Johnson.
Vera Wallace had the remarkable gift of making each person in her presence feel valued, special and loved. Her life was a life of exemplary service, and she will be dearly missed. We look forward to seeing her again.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS Sand Creek 2nd Ward, 2545 Mesa Drive, with Bishop Herbert W. Wallace officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral home, and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.

Vera was a very sweet loving sister in the gospel, she would have done anything for anyone and she was very supportive when my mother passed away. I remember a funny story about her - she had a coat similar to my mothers and they had both worn them to church on a cold day. After church Vera grabbed what she thought was her coat and went home. When my mother went to ger her coat it was gone. Within 10 minutes Vera was back with my mom's coat, laughing the whole way into the church because she'd figured out what she had done. That was always a laugh between us, my father also had alot of contact with your parents as Bishop of the 2nd Ward when they moved in. We got to know your mother and father better when my Dad took some tree roots out for your father. You are in our thoughts and prayers. And know that Vera is in a better place and having a great reunion with Robert.

We are sorry we will not be able to attend Vera's funeral today, our thoughts and prayers are with you and we wish you the best. Sharon and I have considered your mother a dear friend and one we would always get a cheery smile from. We first met your mother some 45 years ago when she was in the Young Women's Presidency in Anaconda and we were in the Butte Stake Mutual. Ti was a pleasant surprise when we moved to American Falls in 1968 and we met again. Your father was in the Bishopric and later he became my counselor. Our friendship has been one of those that seems as it has been there always. Your mother will be missed as she was one of those special people that add much May the blessings
of Heaven – and your Memories –
bring you comfort
in this time of sadness.to the world around you. Her happy spirit will be missed but we will always cherish having known her.

Dear Wallace Family,
Vera was so wonderful to me. I loved her like a mother. It was her example – watching her as a wife and mother and women during my stays with the family in the summers growing up – that influenced how I live today. I knew when I started my family, I wanted to pattern it after what I saw in yours. Your family has always been so willing to include me as one of your own. I am grateful beyond words for her love and influence in my life! She will be sorely missed. She was a ‘peaceable follower of Christ.’ She was my Aunt Vera.
All my love,
Wendy Moosman
