VERA PORTER IDAHO FALLS, ID - Vera A. Landon Clements Porter, 93, former Idaho Falls resident, died October 2, 2005 at Alta Ridge Alzheimers Community in Sandy, Utah. She was born August 31, 1912, in her Hanny grandparents home in Basalt, Idaho, to Joseph Landon and Polly Hanny Landon, the third of ten children. She grew up on a farm in Hamer, Idaho, attended schools there, then earned her degree as a registered nurse at the L.D.S. Hospital Nurses Training School in Idaho Falls. She worked at the Atomic Energy Site for twenty-five years and as Nursing Supervisor for ten years before her retirement. She married Merland Delbert Clements in the Salt Lake City Temple in June, 1934. They lived and worked in Idaho Falls, where their first son was born, then lived in San Diego, California, for five years, where their second son was born. They returned to Idaho Falls and a third son was born. Merland died February 12, 1965. She married Bud Porter in 1974. They moved to Payson, Utah and wintered in Arizona for many years. He died in May of 2004. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held numerous positions throughout her life. She was very talented and enjoyed fine art painting, sewing and making craft items for everyone she knew. She is survived by: Son: M. Joe (Lynda) Clements, Sandy, UT Son: Gene D. (Connie) Clements, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Bryan E. (Kathie) Clements, Castledale, UT 12 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren Brother: Melvin (Ruth) Landon, Clearfield, UT Sister: Mabel Moffett (Jack Shield), Salt Lake City, UT Sister: Marie (Cam) Swickard, Downey, CA. She is preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, an infant son, a grandson and a great-granddaughter. Graveside Services will be held at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue.
