She was born April 27, 1922, in Ammon, Idaho, to Athus Jackson Russell and Vera Bird Russell. She attended the Dewey Grade School, and later graduated from Ammon High School. On August 11, 1943, she married Norman Marshall in Chesterfield, South Carolina. The marriage was solemnized on November 19, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Some of her numerous callings in the church were: Relief Society President, Stake Primary President, Young Women's President, and numerous teaching assignments. She was often referred to by many of those who attended her classes as "one of the best teachers they ever had." She also served two missions for her church, a pilot Primary for the Handicapped, and Rehabilitation Training for the Handicapped at the Deseret Industries. She and her husband farmed and ranched in the Osgood area west of Idaho Falls. She was a avid Celtic and Jazz fan. She never missed attending with her husband, any of her four sons' athletic events.
