VERA JACKSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Vera Jeffery Jackson, of Idaho Falls, died January 22, 2009, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center. She was 83 years old.
She was born December 12, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Walter and Alice Bolton Humphreys Jeffery. She and her twin sister, Verna, were the first set of twins born in the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. She attended school in Rigby and Roberts, and graduated from Roberts High School. After graduation she moved to Idaho Falls and began her career working for Bell Telephone Company.
On September 4, 1956, Vera married her sweetheart, Donald Earle Jackson. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in August, 1978. Don and Vera lived briefly in Blackfoot before moving to Idaho Falls, where Don worked at what is now the Idaho National Lab and Vera devoted herself to raising their four children. After the children were grown, Don and Vera traveled around the country while Don worked on various assignments for EG&G. They lived in Bethesda, MD, Sacramento and Coronado, CA, and Denver, CO. Vera enjoyed the cultural offerings, restaurants, and shopping that each city provided. Don died on January 1, 1993.
Vera was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served valiantly throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and travel - particularly in her later years. She considered her grandchildren her greatest joy and was a wonderful friend and mentor to them.
Vera is survived by four children: Roger (Laurene) Jackson of Rexburg, Julie of Idaho Falls, Wendy of Salt Lake City, and Craig (Holly) Jackson of Idaho Falls; five grandchildren, Abby (Nick) Camberlango, Joshua Jackson, Kylie (Landon) Burgener, Emma Jackson, and Parker Jackson; and one great grandchild, Stella Camberlango, and a sister, Verna (Hyrum) Bell of Burley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother (Merle Jeffery), and a sister (Doris Yancey).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at the LDS Cedar Ridge Ward (3195 S. Holmes), with Bishop Brett Wright officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank June White and Peggy Eversoll for the years of friendship and kindness shown to Vera. She treasured every moment spent with them, and we greatly appreciate their compassion.

I want you to know you are in my thoughts as you get through the next little while.
I only met Vera once many years ago while she was in Salt Lake City visiting her daughter, Wendy, but that brief encounter left me with a great impression of who she was as a person. Even though she knew nothing about me she was warm and inviting in her manner, which speaks highly of her character.
My deepest sympathy goes out not only to you, Wendy, but to the entire family, both immediate and extended. A great lady will be missed.
My prayers are with you,
Connie White

Please accept my condolences in the passing of Mrs. Jackson. Although I didn't know her personally, I had learned about her good life and her later medical challenges from Roger who works with us at BYU-Idaho. Clearly, she was loved and respected. May you all be blessed with comfort and peace.

Dear family, Gayle and I were friends of both your Mother and Father. We all lived in the 16th Ward and had some very good times together. In fact your Dad was Gayle's Home Teaching partner and I worked with your Mom in the Relief Society. We have missed them dearly during the past years and want you to know what sweet special people they were to us and many others. May Heavenly Father bless all of you at this time knowing that your parents are together once again and that you all may be reunited with them as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
