Veona Bettencourt, age 78, passed away May 22, 2016, in Ammon, Idaho. She died unexpectedly from heart complications at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Vee was born March 23, 1938, in Salem, Idaho, to Elmo Ira Davenport and Ivie May Davenport. She was the second oldest of seven children which required her to have many responsibilities. She graduated from Madison High School in May of 1956.

On June 29, 1956, she married Von Andrew Adams in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had 3 children, Tamera, Alan, and Andy. They moved around parts of Idaho and Utah for the next few years and eventually settled in Shelley, Idaho. Vee had many jobs including, secretary, radio host, and reporter. She and Von divorced after 26 years of marriage.

Vee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a woman of many talents and was adventurous and free-spirited. She loved life and her family. She was a painter, poet, chairman of many organizations, author, radio show host, teacher, journalist, architect, and the owner of The Mother Lode Saloon and Steak House in Elk City, Idaho.

On December 21, 1982, Vee married the love of her life John H Bettencourt (Trapper) in Firth, Idaho. This is where she says her real adventures began. We can now add explorer to her chronicle. After John’s failing health they purchased a home in Ammon, Idaho, to be close to family. They were married 25 years before his passing.

Veona’s loving heart, friendship, humor and love of life will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Tamera Dalara Adams of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Alan Von Adams of Portland, OR; and son, Andy Evan (Verla Jo) Adams of Ammon, ID. As well as her brothers and sisters; Price (Betty) Davenport, Karla (Philip) Ricks, Kendall (Yolanda) Davenport, Ellen (Reed) Baker, Lecia (Doug) Anderson, and James (Deborah) Davenport.

She has 3 grandchildren: Alan (Chelsie) Adams, Carl (Katie) Adams, and Andrea (Bracken) Bateman, and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bettencourt; father, Elmo Ira Davenport; and mother, Ivie May Price.
