Venna Marie Cooper, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 25, 2016, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of One Source Home Health and Hospice. Venna was born February 21, 1928, in Osgood, Idaho, to Arthur Eugene Martin and Ella Jane Lords. She attended schools in Roberts, graduating from eighth grade in Grant, Idaho. She attended and graduated from Midway High School (Lewisville, Idaho) in 1946. On December 27, 1946, she married Ivan Dale Cooper in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union were born six children, Sheila, Darel, Norman, Charmaine, Carla, and Connie. Venna and Ivan made their home in Idaho Falls, where Venna was a mother and a homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous positions, including councilor in the Relief Society Presidency, homemaking leader, visiting teacher for many years, Sunday school teacher, and as a young women teacher. Venna enjoyed learning new skills and teaching them to children and adults alike. She loved camping and Dutch Oven cooking for her family and friends, scrap-booking, genealogy work, quilting, spending time with her family, and traveling to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Venna was a 4-H leader for 23 years and taught many classes on sewing and nutrition to 4-H leaders and young children. She judged at many county and state fairs. Venna worked for the Department of Agriculture for three years as a Nutritional Aid to low income families. She was Vice President, then President, of the Idaho Extension of Homemakers and was on the National Board of Extension Homemakers Council for three years. Venna is survived by her daughter, Sheila Cooper of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Charmaine Brooks of Boise, ID; daughter, Carla (Rick) Fluck of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Connie (Edward) Lessmann of Granbury, TX daughter-in-law, Debbie (Darel, deceased) Cooper of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Ruth Call of Boise, ID. 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Dale Cooper; sons, Darel Ivan Cooper and Norman Dale Cooper; grandson, Timothy Aaron Kap; great-grandson, Steven Shane Mallory; father, Arthur Eugene; mother, Ella Jane Martin; seven brothers and four sisters. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Ucon Cemetery, 3960 East 105th North, with Doyle L. Batt officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, prior to the burial. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held the Ucon Church.
