Venice Nadine Johnson Walker, 86, of Ammon, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family. Venice was born June 16, 1926, in Provo, Utah, to Eldon Alonzo Johnson and Velda Woolstenhulme Johnson. She was the third child in a family of twelve and learned how to work hard and serve others. She grew up and attended school in Victor and later attended Ricks College, where she earned her teaching degree. She taught school in Rigby, Idaho, and it was there that she met her husband and eternal companion. On January 14, 1949, she married Owen John Walker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They began their life together in Idaho Falls and later moved to Rexburg, Idaho, where they raised their family. They were the parents of six children. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband passed away January 29, 2010. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Venice served in many capacities and was loved and respected by all those who knew her for her compassion and service. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Venice is survived by Daughter: Alecia Racker of Bountiful, UT; Daughter, Jeanette (Dave) Weaver, of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Ryan (Michel) Walker of Billlings, MT; Daughter, Laurie (Brad) Nielson of Rigby, ID, Son, Layne (Laurel) Walker of Rexburg, ID; Daughter, Marilyn (Dan) Smith of Boise, ID; 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She has been a great example to her 35 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, two grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and one sister. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Ammon LDS North Stake Center, 4363 East 17th Street, with Bishop Justin Judy of the Ammon LDS 14th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Rexburg Cemetery.

Ammon Road, and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Rexburg Cemetery.
