VELLA ORME
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Vella Orme (Vella Lorraine Gosselin Orme) died on September, 24, 2008, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Idaho Falls. She was 90 years old.
She was born with her identical-twin sister Valeta (Valeta Simpson) on June 7, 1918, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Vella graduated with honors from Buhl High School 1933; and graduated from Registered Nurses training in 1937 (recording the highest grade in the State). She worked as a nurse for 34 years in Idaho Falls and near Army bases during World War II. She served in the Red Cross during the War. After retiring from nursing, Vella served as a home-health nurse to many neighbors who could not afford medical care. Vella knitted slippers and booties for humanitarian services, and volunteered in her church and community.
Vella met Grant Orme at an Idaho Falls nurses’ dance – he taught her to dance and ride horses, and they were married in 1941. When Grant returned from the Army in 1946, they purchased their home on 20th Street and lived there for the duration of their lives. Grant died in 1994.
Vella has three sons, Wayne, Mark, and Roger; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many wonderful acquaintances and neighbors. She was especially grateful to Floyd and Doris Butler, who were life-long friends and neighbors. May they always be blessed for the care they gave to her.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.

Our family sends condolences to you and your family on the death of your mom and grandmother. It's been quite a few years since we were all in the 8th Ward. Sister Orme was a wonderful and caring woman who will be missed a lot. She lived a wonderful life full of care and giving, with lots of love mixed in. She now has the greatest gift of all, her family in heaven with her. May you all find peace in this wonderful gift God has given her, and the blessings be yours He's given. Peace be yours.
