Velda Taylor died September 3, 2014, at her home in Idaho Falls from Alzheimer's and pneumonia. She was surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Her parents were John W. and Flossie Windsor. She was born in Ririe, ID on July 15,1938, and shared the hospital crib with her twin sister Velma. Her father was tickled to get two for the price of one!
In 1956 she married Gary Lee Roberts and they had three children, Terry Lee, Rhonda Kay and Kari Diane. They enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family throughout the years. Gary and Velda divorced in 1975. Rhonda was born with cystic fibrosis and passed away March 28,1977.
She married Howard F. Taylor on March 27,1976. They enjoyed many years of golfing at their home in Sun Lakes, Arizona and in Idaho Falls. Together they traveled to various parts of the world, and especially loved fishing at Bloody Dick Creek in Montana with her family. Howard passed away in 1986.
Velda lived independently the rest of her life with her faithful companions, Augie, Luke and Ginger. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and especially golfing with her daughter and many wonderful friends. She loved the game of golf, was an incredible putter and had the thrilling experience of getting FIVE hole in ones!!! She had a beautiful home in Idaho Falls that boasted a garden worthy of Better Homes and Gardens. She'd happily spend all day tending to her flowers and working in her yard. Velda was very proud of her flowers and loved spending time on her deck sharing her beautiful yard with others.
She is survived by her son Terry L. (Terri Jo) Roberts, grandsons Justin, and Shaun (Tia), daughter Kari D. (Kent) Nadauld, all of Idaho Falls, siblings Robert (Rose) Windsor of The Dalles, OR, Jerry (Carolyn) Windsor of Idaho Falls, Marvin (Shirley) Windsor of Elephant Butte, NM, and Paula (Paul) Snyder of Idaho Falls.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Velma, and special friend Buzz Sundseth.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 13, from 2:00 to 5:00, in her backyard at 463 Ranch Circle. Parking is limited so we suggest carpooling if possible. The LDS church on the corner of Sunnyside and Holmes has been very kind in allowing anyone that doesn't mind a short walk to use their parking lot. A private burial will be held at a later date where she will share her daughter Rhonda's gravesite at Fielding Memorial.
We wish to express extreme gratitude to Hospice of Eastern Idaho for the loving care, guidance, attention and time they dedicated to our beloved Mother. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in memory of Velda Taylor to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran, Idaho Falls, ID 83401 or to your favorite charity.
