Vaun Earl Kempton, 65, of Idaho Falls passed away, July 12, 2010 at the Idaho State Veteran’s Home in Pocatello.
He was born September 30, 1944 in Rexburg, Idaho to Olaf Earl Kempton and Amy Elizabeth Henrie Kempton. He attended school in Tetonia, Alameda Jr. High in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. Vaun joined the Marines and served 3 tours during the Viet Nam War and served in China and Taiwan.
Following military service, Vaun returned to Pocatello where he worked as a truck driver. When he was retired he moved to Pocatello, to American Falls and later to Idaho Falls.
He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Vaun enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.
Vaun is survived by his fiancé: Shirley Reid of Idaho Falls;
His three children, Cody, Michael and Darren;
Sister: Donna (Virgil) Richins of Centerville, UT;
Sister: Shirley (LaVar) Zohner of Ammon, Idaho;
Sister: Naomia (Dean) Arnold of Sugar City, Idaho;
Several Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Cache-Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. prior to traveling to the cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Idaho Honor Guard.
