Van Johnson, 81, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away at his home October 9, 2010. He was born December 15, 1928 to George D. Johnson and Catherine Covert Johnson in Alpine, Wyoming. At the age of three, his mother passed away. Later on, his father married Ella Luthi. Van grew up and attended school in the Etna, Wyoming area. In the early 1950s, he moved to the Idaho Falls area, where he met and married Donna Roland. Together they had seven children. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1955, he started Johnson Tile. For fifty-five years he was involved with residential and commercial projects. Van was an avid outdoorsman. His passions were fishing, hunting, and gardening. Survivors include: Wife: Donna Johnson of Idaho Falls, Son: George Johnson of Idaho Falls, Daughter: Bobbie Jo (Ken)Dalling of Idaho Falls, Son: Larry (Linda) Johnson of Grand Rapids, MI, Son: Michael Johnson of Aiea, HI, Son: Brian (Terri) Johnson of Idaho Falls, Son: Brad (Tami) Johnson of Etna, WY, Brother: George Eldon Johnson of Boulder City, NV, Sisters: Delphia McNeil of Etna, WY, Joan Martin of Afton, WY, Judy (Walt) Silverston of Montana, and Sharon (Brad) Thoren of Farson, WY. He is also survived by 18 Grandchildren & 22 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Boyd Johnson, two brothers Doyle and Myron “Hop” Johnson, and one sister, Zola Hill Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue). The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Van’s name to the American Association for Cancer Research Foundation (615 Chestnut St. 17th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19106).
