Van Hodson

Van Heber Hodson, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away on September 13, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 18, 1921 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Delbert Hodson and Marian Whitesides Hodson. He grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot, graduating from Blackfoot High School. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. On June 28, 1957, he married Bonnie Pulsipher in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 14, 1967. They made their home in Idaho Falls where Van worked for Old Faithful Beverage as a sales manager. He retired in 1987 after 40 years of employment. He also served as a Precinct Committee Member. Van was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous positions including Bishop, High Councilman, and Elder's Quorum President. He enjoyed fishing, camping, basketball, doing genealogy, and especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving spouse, Bonnie, 5 daughters - Rhonda (Jon) Price of Idaho Falls, ID, Carlene (Martel) Grover of Rexburg, ID, Debbie (Frank) Langer of Garden Valley, ID, Cindy (Brian) Walker of Boise, ID, Deanne (Dennis) Larsen of Shelley, ID; 2 sons - Kent (Roxine) Hodson of West Jordan, UT and Kurt Hodson of Ammon, ID; 33 Grandchildren; and 49 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the Ammon North Stake LDS Centennial Building (4459 East John Adams Parkway) with Bishop Randy Hoffman, of the Ammon LDS 14th Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-9:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery.
