Valerie Hansen

Valerie Kay Hansen, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 30, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of her loving family.

Valerie was born March 15, 1945, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Merrill Ray Byington and Bessie Theresa Hunsaker Byington. She grew up and attended schools in Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School.

On November 28, 2013, she married Gerald “Jerry” Hansen in Elko, Nevada. Valerie and Jerry made their home in Shelley, Idaho.

She enjoyed bowling, crafts, jewelry making, pinochle, camping, fishing, and hunting, anything in the outdoors. She was a great animal lover, and her pets were a huge part of her life.

Valerie is survived by her daughter, Robin (Chris) Wickham of Bishop, CA; son, Montie Shayne Howe of WA; son, Michael (Janet) Howe of Rigby, ID; son, Travis (Elizabeth) Weaver of  Umpqua, OR; daughter, Krystal (Heath) Tree of  Big Springs, NE; sister, Marilyn (Murland) Spaulding of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Marla (JR) Bateman of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Peni (Gene) Scott of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Dawn (Jon) Fisher of Idaho Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Bessie Byington; husband, Jerry Hansen; brothers, Steve Byington, Craig Byington, Robert Byington, and Ronnie Byington; and sisters, Mickey Monroe and Diane Young.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 6-8 pm. Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
