Val Wilson

Val Ray Wilson, 63, of Ammon, passed away March 13, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a lingering illness. Val was born February 2, 1950, in Rigby, Idaho, to Abram Wayne Wilson and Vendetta Cook Wilson. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School, where he played football and ran track. Val served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. On May 11, 1973, he married Ellen Gwen Smith in Rigby, Idaho. To this union was born a son, Chase. Val and Ellen lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas for 30 years. Val was in sales and sold flooring. He served on the Board for the Tarrant County Apartment Association for many years. Val and Ellen returned to Idaho Falls last September. Val was a member of the Church on Rush Creek in Arlington, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, sports, reading and writing, board games, and spending time with his family – especially his grandkids. Val is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Ellen Wilson of Ammon, ID; Son, Chase (Victoria) Wilson of Grand Prairie, TX; Brother, Lonny (Sophie) Wilson of Rigby, ID, Brother, Ronald (Colleen) Wilson of Lyman, ID, Brother, Monte (Lynda) Wilson of Rexburg, ID, Brother, Verl Reed (Wanna) Wilson of Las Cruces, NM, Brother, Steven (Diane) Wilson of Rigby, ID; Sister, Cheryl (John) Bennett of Eagle, ID; 4 grandchildren, Hunter, Elijah, Alexander, and Abigail “Gigi.” He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glendon, and three sisters, LaRae, Afton, and Ina. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
