Val Gene Crow, 85, of Ammon, passed away July 25, 2025, at the Gables of Ammon. He was under the care of his loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Val was born July 12, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Orval Crow and Pearl Gardner Crow. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School. He also attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Automotive Technology. In February 1966, Val enlisted in the United States Army and served as a First Lieutenant in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.
On September 18, 1963, he married Karleen Bessie Fielding in Logan, Utah. Val and Karleen eventually made their home in Jackson, Michigan, where Val worked as an Automotive Engineer for the Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 2000.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. He enjoyed playing folk music (fiddle, harmonica, fife, flute, penny whistle), woodcarving, leather crafting, riding motorcycles, Scouting, and reading.
Val is survived by his wife, Karleen Crow of Ammon, ID; daughter, Valeen (David) Behunin of Boise, ID; son, Lance (Stefanie) Crow of Yelm, WA; son, Terryl (Stefanie) Crow of Syracuse, UT; son, Trent (Eve) Crow of Concord, CA; sister, Vicki (Bob) Hambrick of Ephraim, UT; sister, Joyce (Paul) Bunnell of Ammon, ID; brother, Gary (Trudy) Crow of Midvale, UT; 8 grandchildren and 5 grand-dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Pearl Crow.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Both visitations will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
