Uvon Marie (Mortensen) Murdoch

Uvon Marie Murdoch, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 21, 2023, at The Gables of Idaho Falls.

Uvon was born April 13, 1933, in Salem, Idaho, to Vernon Christian Mortensen and Mildred Edna Hirschi Mortensen. She grew up and attended schools in Salem, Idaho, and graduated from Sugar City High School.

On May 25, 1951, she married David Murdoch in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Uvon and Dave made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they raised their family.

Uvon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker! She loved collecting antiques and displaying them throughout her home. Walking through her front door was like walking into a museum, carefully curated with the most intricate details. She loved to cook, and always looked forward to making holiday candies. She loved making holidays special and worked hard to have the best gifts for everyone. She was known for always dressing with class and beauty, keeping up with all of the latest fashion trends - as long as it stuck with her signature neutral color scheme. She was always so complimentary and known for building up those around her. She made everyone feel valued and loved, and was never caught without a few treats to share. As generous as she was with her treats, she was equally as generous with her kind words. No interaction was complete without one of her award winning compliments and a big hug. She was a friend to all, from the Schwan’s driver, to the newspaper deliverer, to the neighborhood kids stopping for treats on the way home from school. She left a lasting imprint on the hearts of so many who knew and loved her.

Uvon is survived by her sons, Steven L. Murdoch of Hamer, ID, Dan E. (Brenda) Murdoch of Hamer, ID; daughter, Mitzi (Richard) Savage of Hamer, ID; and son, Vernon Clay (Lori) Murdoch of Shelley, ID; brother, Arlen (Kay) Mortensen of St. George, UT; sister, Sharon Summers of Idaho Falls, ID; and  brother, Michael (Irma) Mortensen of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter (Lori Murdoch), daughter-in-law (Teresa Murdoch), grandson (Houston Murdoch), grandson (Chance Murdoch), brother (John Mortensen), and brother (Jerry Mortensen).

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Brentwood Ward, 2040 Brentwood Drive. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
