UNA BLATTER
CONCORD, CA -- Una Burke Blatter passed away unexpectedly
on June 6, 2005, in Concord, California. She was born April 26, 1935, in Idaho
Falls, Idaho, the sixth daughter of Lemuel Burke and Caroline Pierce Burke.
She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1953, then attended college at
Brigham Young University. While at BYU she married her high school sweetheart,
Kay Monte Blatter. They lived in St. Louis while her husband attended dental
school, then in 1962 they moved to Concord, California, where Kay started
his dental practice. They have lived in Clayton, California, for 42 years.
She filled her time doing those things she loved most – raising her
family, serving others in her church organization, working with Kay, and vacationing
with family and friends.
Upon retirement, Una and Kay served a full time mission for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 18 months. She will be
greatly missed by her husband, Kay, her six children, Gary Blatter of Orem,
Utah; Kevin Blatter and Kari Rojas of Concord, CA; Allen Blatter, Brian Blatter
and Lynette Woods of Clayton, CA; and 26 grandchildren.
She inspired us each to be our best self, encouraged us through
our difficult times, and taught us by example that the greatest happiness
comes from helping others. Her example of faith and love has become part of
us and will continue on. We are grateful for her influence as a wife, mother,
grandma, sister, and friend. And we rejoice that families are forever!
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13,
2005, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit
with friends Monday for one hour prior to the services at Wood East Side.
Services were held in Concord, California on Friday, June 10th.
Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
