Tyss Merrill Bird, 69, of Malad, Idaho, passed away April 19, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure. Tyss was born September 26, 1941, in Glendale, California, to Melvin V. Bird and Mona Williams Bird. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Idaho State University. Tyss married Vada Merrilee Roberts in July, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were later divorced. Tyss worked for Fanning Wholesale as a warehouseman and salesman and for School District #91 as a janitor. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tyss enjoyed playing drums, fishing, tying flies, and spending time with his family. Tyss is survived by two sons, Travis Bird of Shelley, ID and Tory (June) Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; a daughter, Tricia (Gary) Cook of Shelley, ID; a brother, Dean (Dixie) Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; and a granddaughter, Madison Cook. He was preceded in death by his mother. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
